It has come to my attention that alot of people like to sing on the zone and/or like to hear people sing, so I thought of a little contest you might want to do. It's called zone bbs idol. You guys could have like a bunch of people like sing for like 45 seconds, and then the community leaders can judge and break it down to eight. Then, the admins can have a wild card round and get two more people to complete the top 10. Once you guys have picked a top 10, you can have a broadcast or something of the sort over vt, where the top 10 sing, and the zone can vote on it and rank the contestants. The winner could get a prize of some sort for the winner.

Thats an awesome idea! Problem ios, I don't have vt. What if people could do it for their audio profiles.
I think it would be awesome to have a special type of audio profile for the idol contestants to sing in. A broadcast could be complicated, because many members could be excluded due to time zones.
Well I’d suggest we do it as follows. Everyone who wants to compete should make a clip of themselves singing, and send it in to an email address to be confirmed by … well I’d guess by the admin as this is kinda his site, grins. Then I’d suggest that we appoint three judges, who all know at least something about music, to narrow down the contestants to 5 finalists. Having narrowed down the entrants, the five finalists will need to submit a new clip, of them singing a different song, and these clips should be put somewhere on the site where the users can vote for the winner.

Actually I’d like to broaden the idea slightly for judging, and it’s one that doesn’t involve any additional coding for the site, apart from perhaps a temporary new category on the boards. Initially, entrants have a week to submit their entries. The entry needs to be a a clip of the entrant’s singing, the singing needs to be unaccompanied, so as not to cause any unfair advantage to any entrant. At the end of the week, the judges will go through all the entries and narrow them down to five finalists. Then, each of the finalists needs to make a new clip, of a different song to their original entry, and send it to the judges. This clip must not exceed two minutes in length. Each finalist will then upload his/her clip on to his/her profile as an audio profile. (will need to ask admin to allow two minute audio profiles for this period for finalists who are not premium), and then we need a new temporary category on the boards entitled “zone idol”, and in that category each of the finalists will create a topic with his/her name, asking for users to vote. At the end of a week, all the votes will be visible on the board, and a winner will be declared.
Sounds like fun hehe me sb and puggle offered to be the three judges in public quick note discussions but that was just initial offer, if we want to add more or switch judges I'm definitely open to it. May be people could vote on the singing clips too and that would account for 50% of the awarded points which would determine the finalists. I think this could be a lot of fun for sure. I ws wondering whether to limit the categories but I think that would get too complicated, I'd say rapping is out as this is a singing talent context but apart from that we shouldn't place any limits on what the person chooses to sing.
This would be fun, but we need one of the admins to join us and make this possible.

hehehe yay! if I can't be a judge, can I be like the vocal coach? give the contestants tips and stuff? that would be fun. sounds like an awesome idea, everyone go and send emails to chris N and j sqwuared and liam and get them to let us do this.
OMG puggle you'd make a perfect coach! and a perfect judge hehe but I really like the ide of a vocal coach, you can help the contestants pick the right song to help show off their talent. :)
This idea rocks. I will be one in the audiance as it were, voting when the selections are put forth. We can't all be "Celebrity Host-Judges" nor the contestants...
